HARRY & THE HENDERSONS
”All artists are shaped by their time and their place. As a fellow Glaswegian, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Harry & The Hendersons perform live many times in recent years, and know them to be uncommonly talented, both as a band and as individuals, a fact which is as evident on (Method of the Matchstick Men) as it is on stage. They’re all singers, and they’re all songwriters, and through instinct and orchestration they give each other the time and space to shine alone, allowing for heartbreakingly delicate moments, before regrouping en masse to build layers of rolling sound to breathtaking crescendos. This is an album of gentle currents and roaring waves. It’s passionate, playful, philosophical and genuinely uplifting. And like all honest art, it’s a vital addition to our shared cultural landscape.” – Frank Quitely. Glasgow Oct 17.
My formative years were with these guys, and I still struggle to imagine a more turbulent, talented, good-looking and badly behaved band of genuine brothers out there, anywhere across time and space. Love had it right when they said forever changes. But no matter the change, it’s still always love.
