Published Commission: Head Artist for ‘I Care Not’ Album Design, featuring Album Art, Single Art, Logo Art, Poetry and a hand tufted tapestry titled: ‘The Laiden Land’ for JCR, 2024.
The main brief was to interoperate a narrative and distil an image in the style of a medieval tapestry to be used as the album cover art. This process involved listening through the album start to finish in excess of 100 times while taking notes on lyrical imagery and recurring themes. It also involved immersion in medieval manuscript paintings and a lot of trial and error in planning a composition that incorporated and balanced as many fray threads as possible.
The excitement of translating the album into an image was so much that I was compelled to realise in thread and colour what Jack had birthed in song. ‘The Laiden Land’s public debute was on the 9th of May 2024, for the ‘I Care Not’ album launch in old hairdressers in Glasgow, before moving to Dalkeith Palace in Edinburgh to feature in Visaul Art Scotland’s Centenary Show – ‘Now and Then’.
